2024/2025 Argentina Soy Estimate Lowered 1.5 mt to 48.5 mt
Author: Michael Cordonnier/Soybean & Corn Advisor, Inc.
The 2024/2025 Argentina soy estimate was decreased this week by 1.5 million tons to 48.5 million with a neutral to lower bias.
As previously mentioned, severe flooding in northern Buenos Aires resulted in significant losses, especially for soybeans. 21% of the soybeans yet to be harvested are in the flooded areas of northeastern Buenos Aires. Some harvesting started late last week on the higher ground that received less rainfall. Lower-lying areas still have standing water, and it is uncertain when harvesting will resume. It was essential that the area does not receive more rainfall, but unfortunately additional rainfall has already occurred. We can expect that the rainfall will result in lower yields and poor-quality grain, but the exact amounts will become clear at harvest time.
Soybeans in Argentina were 74% harvested as of late last week which represented an increase of 9.4% for the week. The average soybean yield is now estimated at 3,120 kg/ha (46.4 bu/ac). Early soybeans are 81% harvested and Cordoba is recording the best yields at 3,350 kg/ha (49.9 bu/ac). The double crop soybeans in Argentina are now 56% harvested.
Below is the soybean harvest progress in Argentina from May 21, 2025 from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
